Autodesk Fusion 360 plugin · Pre-beta

Kinematics & motion planning,
native to Fusion 360.

FKMP is an all-in-one environment for kinematics and motion planning, built into Autodesk Fusion 360 — prototype robotic mechanisms for any environment and test them in place.

  • n-DOF mechanisms
  • Forward & inverse kinematics
  • Task- & configuration-space planning
FKMP — Fusion 360
Live solve · n-DOF

What it does

One plugin, the full kinematics workflow.

01

Forward kinematics

Solve end-effector pose from joint values for mechanisms with any number of degrees of freedom.

02

Inverse kinematics

Solve joint values to reach a target pose, working straight on your assembly geometry.

03

Task-space planning

Plan straight-line end-effector motion through Cartesian space with joint motion resolved along the path.

04

Configuration-space planning

Interpolate directly between joint configurations for smooth, predictable moves.

Demos

Forward Kinematics

Forward kinematics for n-DOF mechanisms

Drive any joint configuration and read the resulting end-effector pose in real time, for mechanisms with an arbitrary number of degrees of freedom.

Inverse Kinematics

Inverse kinematics for n-DOF mechanisms

Specify a target pose and let FKMP solve for the joint values that reach it — directly on your Fusion 360 assembly.

Motion Planning · Cartesian

Straight-line motion in task space

Plan and preview a linear end-effector trajectory through Cartesian space, with the joint motion resolved for you along the path.

Motion Planning · Configuration

Straight-line motion in configuration space

Interpolate directly between joint configurations for smooth, predictable moves in the mechanism’s configuration space.

Getting started

Installation

FKMP installs as an unpackaged add-in. Pre-beta participants receive the download link by email; the steps below apply once you have the ZIP.

  1. Download & unzip

Download the FKMP ZIP from your pre-beta email and extract it to a permanent location — for example Documents\FKMP. Don’t run it from inside the ZIP.

  2. Open the Scripts & Add-Ins dialog

In Fusion 360, go to the Utilities tab → Add-InsScripts and Add-Ins (or press Shift+S). Select the Add-Ins tab.

  3. Add the FKMP folder

Click the green + next to “My Add-Ins”, then select the extracted FKMP folder (the one containing FKMP.manifest).

  4. Run it

Select FKMP in the list and click Run. Tick Run on Startup to load it automatically each session. FKMP appears as a panel in your toolbar.

Pre-beta

Apply for early access

We’re onboarding pre-beta users in small batches. Tell us a little about what you’re building and we’ll email you when your access is ready.
